2022-2023 Elkhorn dress code policy

  • Uniforms Optional
  • Students are allowed to dress to their gender identity
  • Closed toe shoes must be worn at all time-No flip flops/slides/sandals
  • NO Pajamas (expect for spirit days)
  • All clothing shall be sufficient to conceal undergarments at all times, NO see- through, fish-net fabrics, sagging pants,halter tops, tube tops, or low cut tops, bare-midriffs and skirts or shorts shorter than mid thigh. Any lower garments with rips must have material underneath to prohibit skin from showing
  • All clothing and personal items(backpacks, fanny packs, gym bags, water bottles, etc…) shall be free of writing, pictures, or any insignia which are crude, vulgar, profane, or sexually suggestive, which bear drug, alcohol, or tobacco company advertising, promotions and likelenessa, or advocate tracial, ethic or religious prejudice
  • Head coverings shall not be worn indoors except for purposes of religious beliefs and practices
  • No sagging pants that in a way create a safety hazard

Dress Code Incentives
  • Teachers provided in class incentives for students in dress code
  • Students must be in dress code to participate in Monthly & Quarterly rewards
  • Such rewards maybe: Tiger Tokens which can be used to obtain any item from the tiger token menu- Participation in rallies, dances, special celebrations, monthly prizes and raffles, citizenship awards, special field trips
Out of Dress Code Consequences
 
K-8:
 
1st & 2nd Offenses:
  • Students will be given a warning-A copy of the policy will be sent home. K-5th parents will be contacted by the teacher.
  • 6-8-parents will be contacted by the homeroom teacher.
 
3rd offense:
  • Students will serve recess detention
 
4th offense:
  • Teacher will issue a citation-after school detention- Parent will be notified
  • Students may lose special event privileges such as rallies or others TBD

5th Offense:
  • Student will be assigned a restorative practice project

6th Offense:
  • Student/Parent/Teacher/Admin conference
