September 2013 -- Thanks in large part to the $10,000 grant from IKEA and a lot of hard work over the summer, we were able to unveil our new Elkhorn library! Our library is divided into two sections, a K-5 wing and a 6-8 wing. To help with our unveiling IKEA came and read to one of our Kindergarten classes!

Thank you IKEA and Elkhorn community for making this dream a reality!

Elkhorn API on the move!

August 2013 -- Congratulations, Tigers! Your hard work paid off last year during our state tests. Our school's Academic Performance Index (API) went up 16 points from 708 to 724! We also meet all the growth targets for our subgroups!

We still have a lot of work to do and our school remains under Program Improvement, but this news is pretty exciting! Everyone did a lot of work, and it really paid off! Keep up the great work!

We are proud to announce that Ms. Alvarado was selected as the West Sacramento VFW Teacher of the Year! Congratulations Ms. Alvarado on a well-deserved recognition!

Bilingual Education

Elkhorn Village provides a comprehensive bilingual education for students in Kindergarten through third grade. Next year, fourth graders will have an opportunity to learn California history in Spanish. In the last several years we have only had one bilingual Kindergarten class. However, if enough students register for the program, we will have two bilingual Kindergarten classes this coming year. If you have a child, or know of a child, who will be 5 years old by September 1st, speaks Spanish, and would like to experience Spanish in an academic setting, please call us for more information.
