School History

Since 1954, Elkhorn Village has served students as an elementary school with grades Kindergarten through 6th. In August of 2008, we began the transition to serving students Kindergarten through 7th grade and a year later became a full K-8 school serving approximately 650 students.

Our school has undergone a series of administrative changes over the last decade. Mrs. Cynthia Thompson retired in 2008 after many years of outstanding service to Elkhorn and its community. For the 2008-2009 school year, Ms. Carmelita Goldsby led our school as principal. We then welcomed one of our own in 2009 when Mrs. Shirley Ramírez became our Assistant Principal. From 2009-2011, our school principal was Mr. Ryan Gonzales. The 2011-2012 school year began with Mr. Tony Gross as our interim principal until November 2011 when Elkhorn welcomed Mrs. Lisa Smith as principal until her retirement in May 2017. Mr. Sal Garcia joined our tiger pride as our new principal in July 2017.
