We are excited to have C-STEM at Elkhorn Village! The 2015-2016 school year is the third year of our partnership with the UC Davis C-STEM Center. Currently, two of our math teachers are a part of the program, Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Ogino. C-STEM is offered to our 6th-8th grade students in their math classes with the robotics component as an elective class or after-school activity. Over the last three years, our C-STEM program has been recognized with several awards.
The mission of the C-STEM Center is to improve computing, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (C-STEM) in both formal and informal K-14 programs through integrated learning. The goal of the C-STEM Center is to broaden the participation of students, especially female and underrepresented minorities in computing to develop students' computer-aided problem-solving skills to tackle real-world STEM problems. The center also studies how to use innovative computing and robotics technologies to increase student interest and help them learn STEM subjects with emphasis on Algebra.
We are proud to continue our partnership with the UC Davis C-STEM Center and look forward to another exciting year!
May 31, 2015 -- Congratulations to our Elkhorn C-STEM Robotics students and their advisor Mrs. Wright!
Today they participated at the 2015 C-STEM Robotics Competition at UC Davis. The team received the Team Award and two students received individual awards!
Saturday, May 17, 2014 -- 10 Elkhorn 7th and 8th grade students participated in the 2014 CSTEM Robotics competition held at UC Davis. Our two teams of competitors had tasks each of their robots needed to completed in a certain amount of time.
Elkhorn Robotics students participated in the 2013 UC Davis C-STEM Day on May 4th. Students won 1st place for Story Video, 1st place for Video Choreography, and 1st place for the middle school Roboplay competition! Congratulations to our students and Mrs. Wright - we are proud of you!
This Saturday, May 4th a number of our middle school students will participate in our very first Robotics Challenge Competition at UC Davis C-STEM Center!
The competition will begin at 8:00 am and will conclude at 5:00 pm. Our students will endure six (6) hours of competition, where the first three (3) hours students build and program their robots to complete the challenges presented at the start of the competition, then the last (3) hours our Elkhorn students will compete against 30 other teams in a Roboplay competition.
